About us

We are a research group working on how optimization can enable intelligent decision-making in complex and large-scale systems. Our research lies at the intersection of mathematical optimization, control theory, game theory, and multiagent systems, with applications primarily in aerospace engineering, such as advanced air mobility and space robotics.

We are based in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at University of Minnesota Twin Cities. We are affiliated with Minnesota Robotics Institute, Center for Transportation Studies, and UMN Data Science Initiative.

Research

We investigate how to formulate decision-making problems for autonomous systems as mathematical optimization problems, and develop efficient algorithms to solve them. Our work bridges the gap between mathematical modeling, numerical optimization, and real-world robotic applications.
